Pricing & Billing
What's your price per pound for galvanizing these days?Since per pound pricing depends on the material, size, weight, Duncan process, etc., we don’t have a “typical” price list. However, if you reach out to our team and give us the basic information, we’ll gladly give you an estimate and provide you with a written quote.
How can I establish Credit?Complete a Credit Application which can be found on our website. Once we receive the completed credit application we’ll review it and contact you to set up your account with Duncan. -
The Galvanizing Process
Why do I need to put vent holes in my material?Hot dip galvanizing is a process which coats the exterior as well as the interior of the fabrication. Since the cleaning materials and zinc must go “in, around, over, under, and through” the complete fabrication to do its job, there must be vent holes to prevent the material from becoming trapped inside. Without the vent holes, the trapped liquid could leave bare spots and, with the entrapment of steam, could possibly burst the fabrication and injure nearby employees. If aesthetics are a concern, Duncan can plug the holes after galvanizing.
Can Duncan provide me with information regarding sustainability? We can provide all necessary documentation including LEED Certifications, Hazardous Product Declarations (HPD) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all processes and materials.
What is your current backlog?Because our production schedule is based on the order that the material is received, our backlog and turnaround time changes daily. However, we can estimate turnaround time if we are informed of a delivery date in advance.
Our goal is to turn all galvanizing jobs around within 2-3 working days and Colorgalv jobs in 5-7 working days. Although our turnaround time may be longer at times, be assured that we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. -
Pickups and Deliveries
Can Duncan deliver my material to the job site?We do not provide transportation services but can recommend reliable trucking firms if requested.
Do you have equipment to unload the material from a truck? We have a fleet of forklifts and handling equipment operated by trained employees to ensure safe loading and unloading customer material.
What does the driver do when they arrive? When arriving at Duncan, the driver should call or text the telephone number on the white banner located on the front of the plant (617-389-8440). A member of the Customer Service Team will direct them to the next step in the process.
Do I need to make an appointment?Appointments are not necessary. However, if you would like to schedule a “driver will wait” delivery, we suggest that you call our Customer Service Team to check on available time slots. -
Continuing Education
How many credits will Duncan’s “lunch and learn” presentations earn? Our accredited presentations qualify for AIA and HSW credits. They can be held in person at the client’s office, virtually, or as a plant tour and a certificate of attendance will be provided. -
Paint
What color is the zinc today? Our accredited presentations qualify for AIA and HSW credits. They can be held in person at the client’s office, virtually, or as a plant tour and a certificate of attendance will be provided.
How do I touch up the galvanizing and the paint? The touch-up procedure for damaged galvanizing is governed by ASTM A-780. This standard specifies the means and methods, including zinc rich paints, for the proper touch-up. For our Colorgalv process, we will provide step-by-step repair procedures for the particular system and damage.
My Architect wants me to use a specific brand of paint. Can Duncan match it and give me a sample? We use those coatings that are designed to be factory applied and compatible with hot dip galvanizing. However, we can match ANY manufacturer’s color and will provide a color sample for approval.
If my Colorgalv material was damaged during erection, can Duncan repair it for me?While we cannot repair the damage caused outside of our control, we can provide touch-up material and repair procedures for preparation and application.
